The McCoy Center for the Arts in New Albany will screen "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" for free at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Moviegoers are asked to bring non-perishable food or cash for a Thanksgiving charity run.

The screening is part of an annual tradition at the McCoy Center pairing a free holiday film with donations for the Thanks for Giving 4 Miler. That charity run takes place two days later on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 26, starting at Market Square in New Albany. There is no official entry fee, and according to the city's event listing, 100% of net proceeds go toward feeding families in Central Ohio.

No ticket is needed for the screening.

Concessions will be available for purchase. The 2000 live-action film stars Jim Carrey as the Grinch and Taylor Momsen as Cindy Lou Who. It runs about 105 minutes and is rated PG. The screening will use the venue's Mershad Digital Experience projection and sound system, according to the McCoy Center's event listing.

The Thanks for Giving 4 Miler is open to competitive runners, joggers and walkers. The 2026 race will benefit the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, LifeCare Alliance and the New Albany Thanksgiving Day fund at the New Albany Community Foundation. Organizers say 100% of net proceeds will go to the three organizations, while donated food will go directly to the New Albany Food Pantry.

The McCoy Center, at 100 E. Dublin-Granville Road, has hosted a free pre-Thanksgiving movie screening tied to the charity run for several years. Past films have included "A Christmas Story" in 2018, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" in 2021 and "Home Alone" in 2023.
