Left turns between U.S. 33 and Bixby Road in Franklin County end around Oct. 2, when the intersection converts to right-in/right-out access only.
The Ohio Department of Transportation's District 6 office announced the permanent change on X, saying the restrictions are needed to improve traffic safety at the intersection. The agency first posted about the conversion on Sept. 14 and issued a reminder on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Under the new configuration, drivers on U.S. 33 will no longer be able to turn left onto Bixby Road. The right-in/right-out setup means only right turns will be permitted in either direction at the intersection. Drivers who currently rely on left-turn access will need to use alternate routes.
The change is permanent.
The intersection sits along U.S. 33 in southern Franklin County. Groveport ties the change to ODOT's U.S. 33 widening project, which includes a planned interchange at Bixby Road.
ODOT District 6, which oversees roads in Franklin, Delaware, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union counties, has not published specific alternate-route guidance for the Bixby Road change. The agency's linked project page for the conversion returned an error as of Thursday, Oct. 1, and no additional details about the scope or timeline of work along the corridor were available.
Groveport's post noted Winchester Pike as an alternate route for drivers in that area.
