Two downtown New Albany businesses will go before the Architectural Review Board on Monday, Oct. 12, seeking approval for new signs in the village center.

Apollo Coffee owner Jacob Rovito filed for a certificate of appropriateness to install signage at 45 N. High St., according to the board's meeting agenda. Harvest Pizza is also requesting a sign certificate at 24 E. Main St. The applicant on that case is Jeff Pevec, owner of FastSigns Hilliard, a sign company. Chris Crater owns Harvest Pizza.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. It will be held at New Albany Village Hall, 99 W. Main St.

Both requests follow earlier board approvals for the same properties. The ARB approved an exterior ADA ramp for Apollo Coffee by a 6-0 vote on July 13. A July staff report made signage subject to later board review. The board approved building additions for Harvest Pizza by a 4-0 vote on June 8, with Crater speaking in support of that application.

Apollo Coffee occupies a building at 45 N. High St. constructed in 1920, according to the staff report. Previous tenants included Whit's Ice Cream and Griffin's Floral. The Harvest Pizza building at 24 E. Main St. dates to 1910, according to the Franklin County Auditor.

A third case on the Oct. 12 agenda involves exterior modifications at 11 S. High St., filed by applicant Bill Murphy.

Sign dimensions, materials and design details for the Apollo Coffee and Harvest Pizza applications have not been released publicly ahead of the hearing. Residents who want to comment must attend in person. The meeting will be streamed online for viewing only at the city's website.
