New Albany and Gahanna voters have three days left to vote early before the Nov. 3 general election. The last chance is Sunday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m.

All early voting takes place at one location: the Franklin County Board of Elections, 1700 Morse Rd., Columbus. Voters cannot cast early ballots at their neighborhood polling places.

Here are the remaining hours, according to the Franklin County Board of Elections:

  • Friday, Oct. 30: 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 31: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 1: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2. On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, voting shifts to assigned precinct polling places, open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Check your polling place

The Franklin County Board of Elections mailed polling location change notices to 54,645 registered voters whose assigned polling place changed for this election, NewsForce247 reported. The county will operate 298 polling locations on Nov. 3, according to the board. Voters can look up their assigned location at vote.franklincountyohio.gov.

Board of Elections Director Antone White told The Columbus Dispatch that early turnout was running ahead of the 2018 and 2022 midterms. As of Oct. 23, more than 88,000 Franklin County residents had already voted, roughly split between in-person and mail ballots, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

What you need to bring

Ohio law requires a valid, unexpired photo ID with your name and photograph, according to the Ohio Secretary of State's office. Accepted forms include an Ohio driver's license, a state of Ohio ID card, an interim ID form from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), a U.S. passport or passport card, and U.S. military, Ohio National Guard or Department of Veterans Affairs ID cards. The name on the ID must substantially match the name on the poll list.

Absentee ballots

The deadline to request an absentee ballot has passed. It was Tuesday, Oct. 27, under House Bill 458 (HB 458).

Voters who already have an absentee ballot must return it to the board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, under Senate Bill 293 (SB 293). Ballots can be mailed, hand-delivered or placed in the board's secure drop box outside 1700 Morse Rd. The drop box is checked daily by a bipartisan team and kept under 24-hour video surveillance, according to the board. Overseas and military voters have a four-day grace period after Election Day.

What's on the ballot

Gahanna residents face 10 charter amendments, labeled Issues 18 through 27. The proposals cover mayoral elections, ward boundaries, zoning appeals, department reorganization and more. A seven-member Charter Review Commission met from February through July and Gahanna City Council approved all 10 proposals on July 20, as we reported Oct. 2. Each amendment needs a simple majority to pass.

Statewide, voters will choose a governor between Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and Democrat Amy Acton as the major candidates, and a U.S. Senate seat between Republican incumbent Jon Husted and Democrat Sherrod Brown, NBC4 reported. Two Ohio Supreme Court seats are also on the ballot, along with statewide Issue 3, which asks whether Ohio's photo ID requirement should be written into the state constitution.

Voters can reach the Franklin County Board of Elections at 614-525-3470.
