The McCoy Center for the Arts in New Albany will screen the 2000 Jim Carrey film How the Grinch Stole Christmas for free on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m.
No tickets are needed. The screening is open to everyone, according to ABC 6.
The PG-rated film will play on the venue's Mershad Digital Experience system, which features advanced projection and surround sound, according to BroadwayWorld.
Organizers are asking moviegoers to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations. The donations will support the Thanksforgiving 4 Miler charity run, scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, in New Albany. Proceeds from that run benefit the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, LifeCare Alliance and the New Albany Thanksgiving Day fund at the New Albany Community Foundation, according to ABC 6.
The Ohio Arts Council is supporting the screening in part.
The McCoy Center has paired a free holiday movie with the Thanksforgiving food drive before. The venue screened National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation in November 2021 and Home Alone in November 2023, both collecting donations for the same charity run, according to McCoy Center press releases from those years.
