Gahanna City Council on Aug. 17, approved grant applications for a $12 million reconstruction of the Stygler Road, Agler Road and US-62 corridor, locked in a new electric supply agreement for city buildings and overhauled the city's tax-incentive oversight board.

The votes, taken at the council's 7 p.m. session at 200 S. Hamilton Road, delivered outcomes residents and business park tenants had been waiting on since the items were previewed at the Aug. 3 Committee of the Whole.

Road corridor grants

Council passed two resolutions aimed at funding the Stygler Road project, which serves the New Albany International Business Park. RES-0039-2026 authorizes the mayor to apply for a Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission transportation grant, while RES-0038-2026 authorizes an application to the Ohio Public Works Commission's State Capital Improvement Program and Local Transportation Improvement Program.

Councilmember Trenton I. Weaver, Gahanna's representative to MORPC, presented a regional planning report to council the same evening.

The corridor project's $12 million price tag would cover improvements along Stygler Road, Agler Road and US-62, according to the city's meeting agenda. If the grant applications succeed, state and regional dollars would offset a significant share of that cost.

Electric supply agreement

Under RES-0037-2026, the mayor is authorized to sign an electric supply agreement for city facilities based on a pricing analysis by Tradition Energy, procured through the OMNIA Partners cooperative purchasing program. No contract value or term was listed.

Tax Incentive Review Council

Council adopted ORD-0029-2026 on an emergency basis, repealing a 2000-era ordinance that had cited the wrong section of the Ohio Revised Code for the city's Tax Incentive Review Council. Director of Economic Development Jeff Gottke told the July 20 Committee of the Whole that staff discovered the error, though the city had always followed the correct appointment process in practice.

"The ordinance includes an emergency clause so the alternate appointments will be effective before the scheduled meeting," Gottke said at the July 20 session, referring to the annual TIRC meeting set for Aug. 25, in Gahanna.

The new ordinance also adds alternate members to ensure a quorum is available.

Other business

Council also adopted ORD-0030-2026, authorizing the mayor to approve surety bonds under Ohio Revised Code Section 1311.311, and approved minutes from the Aug. 3 regular, Committee of the Whole and Finance Committee meetings.

The Aug. 17 session was the final City Council meeting at 200 S. Hamilton Road, according to the Legistar calendar.

What's next
