Gahanna is pursuing state and regional grant funding to reconstruct the Stygler Road, Agler Road, and US-62 corridor, a key gateway to the New Albany International Business Park and its cluster of Intel semiconductor fabs, Amazon, Google, and Meta data centers.
The total project cost is $12 million.
The city's Committee of the Whole took up three resolutions and one ordinance at its August 3 meeting, according to the committee agenda. The headline item, RES-0039-2026, would authorize the mayor to apply for Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission MPO transportation funding specifically for the Stygler/Agler/US-62 improvements.
$12 million project supporting 2,000 retained jobs
The intersection improvements carry an estimated total cost of $12 million, according to MORPC's Northeast Corridor Project Profile. The project is part of a broader Northeast Corridor initiative led by the Ohio Department of Transportation that supports Intel's microprocessor facility and the Easton Town Center area, with future phases estimated at $114 million to $140 million.
The corridor already secured a $200,000 Transportation Improvement District grant in June 2026 for preliminary engineering, according to ODOT's TID project list. Governor Mike DeWine and ODOT Director Pamela Boratyn announced that award as part of $8.5 million distributed to 24 projects statewide. The TID application stated the road reconstruction is needed to support roughly $350 million in private-sector capital investment and approximately 2,000 retained jobs.
MORPC's program-wide deadline for final MPO funding applications is September 25. The exact grant amount Gahanna is requesting has not been disclosed.
OPWC grant and electric supply agreement
A second resolution, RES-0038-2026, would authorize the mayor to apply to the Ohio Public Works Commission's State Capital Improvement Program or Local Transportation Improvement Program. OPWC's SCIP grants can cover up to 90% of project costs for repair and replacement work, according to the OPWC FY28 application manual. That application window closes August 26.
The committee also considered RES-0037-2026, which would authorize the mayor to enter an electric supply agreement for city facilities based on pricing from Tradition Energy, procured through the OMNIA Partners cooperative purchasing program. Gahanna entered a similar agreement through OMNIA Partners in 2025, according to a city council newsletter from that fall. Tradition Energy's OMNIA Partners contract runs through November 30, 2027.

The resolutions are expected to move to a full City Council vote at the next regular meeting August 17. Council meets at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers on the first and third Mondays of each month.
