A house fire in the 7900 block of New Albany Condit Road on Aug. 5, drew a large emergency response from the Plain Township Fire Department after crews were dispatched around 7:08 a.m.
Investigators determined the fire was accidental, caused by rags soaked with finishing materials that had been placed in a trash container, according to 10TV. Oily or solvent-soaked rags are a known spontaneous combustion hazard.
No injuries were reported.
Assistant Fire Chief Greg Ecleberry confirmed the cause to 10TV. Ecleberry, a 31-year fire service veteran, has served with Plain Township since 1995 and leads the department's training program.
The Plain Township Fire Department had not released details on the extent of damage to the structure or whether residents were displaced as of Thursday morning.
