Families looking to squeeze in a few more weekday swims at the Plain Township Aquatic Center have until Aug. 18, to do it.
Starting Aug. 19, the pool at 7650 Swickard Woods Blvd. in New Albany will close on weekdays and operate weekends only through Labor Day, Sept. 7. The shift coincides with the first day of classes for New Albany-Plain Local Schools.
Plain Township announced the schedule change on its website and confirmed it in an Aug. 6 post on X, noting that PTAC will be closed on school days once NAPLS classes resume.
Back-to-school hours (Aug. 19–Sept. 7)
- Weekdays: Closed
- Saturday: 11 a.m.–7 p.m. (members only 11 a.m.–noon)
- Sunday: Noon–8 p.m. (members only noon–1 p.m.)
- Labor Day, Sept. 7: 11 a.m.–8 p.m. (members only 11 a.m.–noon)
The pool closes for the season after Labor Day.
School start dates
New Albany-Plain Local Schools begins its staggered opening Aug. 19, with grades 1–12 students whose last names start with A–K, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Students with last names L–Z start Aug. 20, and all students PK–12 attend Aug. 21.
Gahanna-Jefferson City Schools opens for all students on Aug. 20.
The City of New Albany is reminding drivers to slow down and watch for students walking, biking and crossing streets once school is back in session.
Pool details
Daily admission runs $11 for adult residents and $13 for non-residents. Youth ages 3–17 pay $9 or $11, and seniors 60 and older pay $7 or $9. Children 2 and under swim free. The facility features an eight-lane competition pool with zero-depth entry, two 28-foot water slides and a play area for small children.
