Gahanna Lincoln High School's girls wrestling program gets a boost Saturday, Sept. 19, when the GLHS Boosters host a dine-out fundraiser at Gahanna Grill.

Diners who visit the Granville Street restaurant between 5 and 9 p.m. will have a portion of their bill donated to the girls wrestling team, according to a GLHS Boosters announcement posted Wednesday, Sept. 16. The exact percentage was not specified.

Torri Fields, who posted the announcement for the boosters, encouraged families to stop by for dinner to support the program. No flyer or special code was mentioned.

Gahanna Grill sits at 82 Granville St. in Gahanna. The restaurant is known for its burgers, including the "Beanie Burger," according to Visit Gahanna.

The fundraiser supports a girls wrestling program that has grown quickly. In July, Gahanna City Council honored junior KyLee Tibbs with Joint Resolution and Proclamation RES-0022-2026 for winning her second consecutive Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) state wrestling championship. Tibbs also earned Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) Wrestler of the Year and Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association Wrestler of the Year honors while maintaining a GPA above 3.5, according to council minutes.

At the July 6 council meeting, Coach Jamie Leeseberg said Tibbs' work ethic "has helped elevate the entire girls wrestling program, resulting in increased participation, multiple state qualifiers, and continued competitive success."

The program's depth showed in March, when four Gahanna Lincoln wrestlers competed at the OHSAA Girls Wrestling State Championships. Two earned district titles and two finished as district runners-up. Athletic Director Matthew Welsh celebrated the group on X ahead of the tournament:

@matthewwelshad: "We have 4 Lions representing Gahanna at the OHSAA Girls Wrestling State Championships! Congratulations KyLee (District Champ), Mykah (District Champ), Mina (District Runner Up) & Jordan (District Runner Up)! We can't wait to watch you compete!"

Tibbs went on to win the state title for the second straight year.

The dine-out is one of several community events on the calendar this weekend. New Albany's DogFest, a fundraiser for 4 Paws for Ability's free service dogs, takes place Sunday at New Albany Village Hall, as we reported Sept. 17.
