Braseros Bar & Grill, a family-owned Mexican restaurant, opened in September at The Commons at Hamilton Quarter near Gahanna and New Albany.
The restaurant at 5924 Old Hamilton Road features open-flame cooking, fresh ingredients and recipes the owners say have been handed down through three generations, NBC4 reported. Braseros announced its opening on Facebook.
The menu lists more than 50 items, including burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos and tamales. A full bar serves cocktails, margaritas, wine and beer. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Braseros occupies the west end of the five-tenant building, which was built in 2024. It joins Naf Naf Grill, a Middle Eastern chain that opened at 5918 Old Hamilton Road on Jan. 31, and Atlas Family Dentistry at 5920 Old Hamilton Road. All tenants are the first occupants of their storefronts. The Naf Naf Grill location is run by franchisees Roma and Suresh Patel, who also operate multiple Tropical Smoothie Café locations across Ohio, Illinois and Texas.
The complex is not done filling up. Wild Eggs, a Louisville, Kentucky-based breakfast and brunch chain, plans to open on the building's far east end on Tuesday, Oct. 20, according to its website. The chain, founded in 2007, has 19 locations across Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. NBC4 reported in May the Hamilton Quarter spot would be Columbus' first Wild Eggs, citing city permits.
A Milkshake Factory location will also move into the strip at 5916 Old Hamilton Road. Franchisee Sivakumar Bodipudi told NBC4 in May he closed his Short North location after about a year to relocate to northeast Columbus, calling it "the community we want to build." The Pittsburgh-based chain had 57 locations nationwide as of May. An opening date for the Hamilton Quarter shop has not been announced.
The retail strip sits just south of Culver's and west of the larger Hamilton Quarter shopping development, an area that has also added a Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and a Culver's within the past year. Yogi's Grill, Jeff's Donuts and Dutch Bros are also planning locations in the area, NBC4 reported.
Wild Eggs' opening next month is the next milestone for The Commons.
